Ian Allen, a member of Boy Scout Troop 178, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout and has earned all the required ranks.
Allen, a senior at Morton High School, has earned a total of 44 merit badges. He has served as patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, Cub Scout den chief, weblos den chief and is currently serving as the Order of the Arrow troop representative.
Allen also earned the Den Chief Service Award, as well as the National Youth Leadership Award, which is the Boy Scouts of America’s new honor society.
Allen is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, has worked on the staff at Cub Scout Day Camp in Eureka for seven consecutive summers and recently qualified as a Leave No Trace trainer.
Allen is currently serving as president of Venture Crew 318 in Morton.
In venturing, he has earned the Bronze Award for Outdoors, Sports, Arts and Hobbies and Religious Life; the Ranger Award and the Shooting Sports Outstanding Achievement Award.
He is in his final stages of completing the Venturing Gold Award and plans to earn venturing highest recognition, the Silver Award, before he graduates high school.
Allen is the son of Troy and Gaylyn Allen of Groveland.
