EAST PEORIA — Buford L. Mooberry, 88, of East Peoria, died at 4:49 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Heartland of Riverview in East Peoria.
He was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Peoria, the son of Harry and Viola (Oetzel) Mooberry. He married Joyce Weygandt on Dec. 4, 1955, in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Randall (Andrea) Mooberry and Dale (Julie) Mooberry, both of Morton; six grandchildren, Casey (Patrick) Brooks, Hope (Dan) Martin, Logan, Brandon, Ethan and Caleb Mooberry; one step-granddaughter, Maggie Davis; one brother, Orville Mooberry of Santa Rosa, Calif.; one sister, Donna (Mooberry) Crumrine of Morton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glen Mooberry.
Buford was a life-long farmer in the Morton area. He greatly loved his family, farming, traveling and camping. In 1988, he built a large machine/woodworking shop which brought him much pleasure. He enjoyed welding and created many useful items for machines and tools. A favorite hobby was woodworking, making many beautiful pieces of furniture for his home and family.
He was a 25-year member of the Peoria Area Woodworkers Club and a 64-year member of the East Peoria First United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the East Peoria First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mary Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
