Walter M. Aberle, 92, of Morton, formerly of Tremont, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at his residence.

Born July 12, 1920, in Tremont to August and Lena Menold Aberle, he married Vera V. Schweigert on Sept. 15, 1946, in Tremont. She preceded him in death.

 He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Louise, Betsy, and Ann Aberle; three brothers, Albert (Emma), Emil (Wilma), all of Tremont, and Vernon (Helen) of Lehi, Utah; and one granddaughter.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Su) Aberle of Fall Creek, Wis. and David (Malinda) Aberle of Bloomington; two daughters, Lynnette (Ron) Menold and Carol Aberle, both of Morton; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernie (Frieda) Aberle of Tremont; and one sister-in-law, Eunice (Harold) Rowell of Tremont.

 He farmed in the Tremont area until 1963 when he moved to town and was employed at Tremont Co-op and Grain, retiring after 20 years.

 He and Vera volunteered at OSF Hospital, Peoria Rescue Mission, Peoria Friendship House, Apostolic Christian World Relief and Eureka and Morton Apostolic Christian Nursing homes. He also served as janitor of his church.

He was a member of Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont, where his funeral was Saturday. Ministers of the church officiated. Visitation was Friday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont and Saturday morning at the church. Burial was in Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Tremont.

 Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge of Morton for their loving care of his sister, Betsy, Peoria Rescue Ministries, or Morton Fire department for their wonderful service on multiple occasions.
