  • Morton pushed the Metamora volleyball team to the brink, but the Redbirds had a positive response.
Metamora won Oct. 23, 26-24, 25-20, in the semifinals of the Class 3A East Peoria Regional.
It was the second-seeded Redbirds' third victory in as many tries against the Potters this fall.
Sarah Livingston topped Morton (17-16-3) in three statistical categories in the final match of a decorated four-year varsity career.
She finished with nine kills, eight digs and four aces for the No. 3 seed Potters.
Grace Brennan of Morton provided 17 assists, while Casey Brunton leaped for a team-best two blocks.
The Potters had their first winning season since 2009 under first-year head coach Jen Saylor.
Interesting tidbit: When pulling up the Illinois High School Association volleyball main page, one of the rotating pictures is of then-Potter senior Julie Boss bumping the ball during the 2006 Class AA state quarterfinals.
Other easily-recognizable Morton players in the Visual Image Photography shot are Allison McGlaughlin and Danni Kornfeld.
