Frank Greene, 90, of Morton, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1922, in Goodfield, to Harlen and Nannie (Winkler) Greene. He married Ruth Mary Tuffentsamer on Nov. 18, 1945, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Greene of Morton; two daughters, Sharon (Rodney) Petro of Tremont, Linda (Delbert) Newbury of Lebanon, Ky.; one son, Randall (Lynn) Greene of Morton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
He began in the service station business in 1948 working for Al Heiniger at the Heiniger Standard Service in Morton.
He then started his own business in 1960, in Washburn, Ill, before moving back to Morton in 1966, where he owned and operated Frank’s Standard and Texico for 20 years, semi-retiring in 1986.
Frank enjoyed stopping by the various coffee shops where he talked sports. He was an avid and passionate St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his care givers, Nancy and Kim, for their past year of care.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at funeral home. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
