No new taxes for schools in Morton
The article by Steve Stein on District 709 use of a new sales tax for schools is the never ending quest for Dist. 709 to spend more money on unneeded projects.
The district always tries to build new schools if needed or not. They value aesthetic looks of schools rather than the need for them. The new ploy to build new schools is the architects ‘Frankenstein Appearance’ theory.
If residents of Morton aren’t intelligent enough to vote ‘NO’ for such a tax, remember the tax is forever and the monies added to the coffer of the schools will be used to beautify the schools adding nothing to education.
If the facilities sales tax is voted in by uniformed residence they money should be used for only one thing. The tax should eliminate parents paying fees for parking, no fee for any extra curricular activity such as band, sports, etc.
Many students can’t participate in extra curricular activities because of the expense. Let’s think of the cost for parents before adding new expenses and referendums to increase our taxes. School Board members are already finding out how to squander the tax which will appear on the April 2013 ballot.
Vote ‘No.’ Get to the polls achieving a 99 percent participation to defeat this April 2013 Tazewell school facilities sales tax.
