People with strong leadership skills can make the difference between success or failure in any business, organization, or community. The ability to resolve conflicts, create effective teams, identify solutions, inspire innovation, and motivate a group behind one clear plan can take companies to the next level.
The Morton Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping our members instill Leadership Skills in their employees. And to carry that goal forward, this month we are announcing Leadership Morton, a new local leadership program designed to instill Leadership Skills along with valuable information about Morton and Central Illinois in program participants.
Leadership Morton will begin meeting weekly from 7:30 a.m.-10 a.m. starting Jan. 31 and ending March 28 in the Morton Firehouse training room. The mission of Leadership Morton is to develop local leaders by cultivating skills, awareness, and engagement through intentional learning experiences for the continual betterment of local businesses and the Village of Morton.
Again, the program will incorporate leadership skills education in each morning’s activities, helping to prepare our students to assume responsible positions with non-profit, civic, citizen, and corporate organizations within our community. The program will also provide a broad understanding of public issues, workings of state and local government, civic challenges and the role the community and organizations play in problem solving, as outlined in this years’ text: Strengths Based Leadership, by Tom Roth.
Space is limited and students will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition is $200 per person for Members and $250 per person for Non-Members, if registered by Dec. 31. By registering before the end of the year, your company can take advantage of the tax deduction in 2012.
