Milton P. Zehr, 88, of Morton, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka.
Born Feb. 6, 1924, in Morton to Peter and Louisa (Sutter) Zehr, he married Helen Pfeifer on Jan. 1, 1949, at the First Mennonite Church in Morton. She preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2010.
He also was preceded in death by one granddaughter; two brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are his children, Ruth (Manfred) Brancard of Denver, Colo., Raymond Zehr of Fort Collins, Colo., Dennis Zehr (Ellen Davis-Zehr) of Tiskilwa, Janet Zehr Kaufmann (Peter) of Chicago and Karen Zehr Horton (Chuck) of Galena; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; and one sister, Doris (Robert) Yoder of Eureka.
He drove and did mechanical work on semi tractor-trailers for Zehr Brothers Trucking Company in Morton and later Stahly Trucking Company. He last worked for Ervin Kahler Inc., now known as Fort Transfer in Morton, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Trinity Church.
He served on the board and as a volunteer at Eureka Et Cetera Thrift Shop.
Services were Saturday at Trinity Church in Morton, with the Rev. Sanford Yoder officiating. Visitation was Friday and prior to services Saturday at Trinity Church in Morton. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Tremont.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
