Rochelle Lynn Hornbuckle, 65, of Morton, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, entered into the presence of God this Christmas, Dec. 25, 2012.

Rochelle was born in 1947 in Zion, Ill., to Ellsworth “Ells” and Pauline James.  She was united in marriage to Jack Hornbuckle, her “seventh-grade sweetheart,” on Feb. 3, 1967.

Together, they raised two children, lovingly embraced two additional, adult children through marriage and cherished four grandchildren.

After attending Bob Jones University and traveling abroad for Jack’s term in the U.S. Navy, Rochelle spent the greater part of her life as a dedicated homemaker and assisting in the office of their family-owned business, Home Heating Company.

Her greatest passions included praying for, supporting, and encouraging her family, serving within the vocal music ministry at both Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, Illinois and Cornerstone Baptist Church, Morton, Illinois, where she was a member, praising God through hymns and contemporary praise songs, journaling, and reading her bible.  She made it her purpose in life to share her faith with those who crossed her path by introducing them to the beautiful gift of salvation.

She is survived by her loving husband Jack of nearly 46 years; daughter, Sarah (Brian) Kapusta of Clayton, N.C.a; son, Tim (Sarah) Hornbuckle of Port Byron, Ill.; grandchildren, Ethan Hornbuckle and Easton, Camden and Jayden Kapusta; sisters, Char (Harley) DeVore of Blue Grass, Iowa, Tina (Brooke) Slosser of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Winnie (Rev. John) O’Dell of Dexter, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family takes great solace in knowing that their wife and mom rejoices with the saints in heaven and they will one day again be reunited.  This isn’t a forever goodbye, but rather, goodbye for now.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church - Prayer Path Memorial, Morton, Illinois.
