  • The Morton Junior High seventh-grade boys basketball team carried a 9-8 record after a 39-36 overtime loss Dec. 13 to Olympia.
    Tommy Kuhl led the Junior Potters with 11 points.
    Evan Heal added seven points and Evan Pfeifer six for MJHS, which got outscored 6-3 in the extra session.
    Jake Martin and Zach Byrne tallied 10 points apiece Nov. 29 for the Junior Potters in a 33-15 thumping of Pekin Edison.
    Morton used a 21-9 advantage in the second and third quarters to cruise to victory.
    On Dec. 4, the Junior Potters registered a 51-17 victory against Blessed Sacrament.
    Byrne led 11 MJHS scorers with 10 points.
    Kuhl and Camden Hopkins notched eight points, and Noah Steffen and Vinny Massaglia both chipped in five.
    Byrne provided a team-high dozen points in a 41-31 win over Homer Glen Homer.
    Kuhl had nine points and Martin eight as the Junior Potters did not lose any quarters.
    Kuhl's 14 points Dec. 10 lifted Morton to a 46-24 rout of Dunlap.
    Alec Bazzetta contributed nine points for the Junior Potters, who were on top 34-8 at halftime.
    Byrne had six points and Martin five.
    Pekin Broadmoor escaped Dec. 11 with a 22-21 overtime win against MJHS.
    Martin led the Junior Potters in the low-scoring affair with six points.
    Kuhl had five points and Bazzetta supplied four.
