Gary E. Fields, 74, of Morton died at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home.
Born Feb. 9, 1938, in McGregor, Iowa, to Everett and Olive (Durr) Fields, he married Julie Jorgensen on Feb. 24, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Greg (Kim) Fields of Springfield; one daughter, Lori Naas of Morton; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Haase of Genoa City, Wis., and Eleanor (Herb) Stanford of Madison, Wis.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
He served in the United States Air Force.
He worked as a salesman for A.J. Dralle out of Lemont for 25 years, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Morton United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and on many committees at the church.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service was held Jan. 29 at Morton United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Lori Harvey and Paul Walles officiating. Visitation was Monday and Tuesday prior to services, both at Morton United Methodist Church.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
