1. Rally Day helps kick off the 2013 Relay for Life season in Morton from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson Grade School, 220 E. Jefferson St. The open house will give this year's Relay theme, along with letting teams start signing up for the Relay.

2. In addition, the community can learn what the money raised is used for, fundraising ideas, survivor participation information, luminaria information and what goes on during Relay Day on June 8-9.

3. The event will also feature musical entertainment, raffles and light refreshments for all community members who attend.

Why you should attend

It is estimated that in 2012, 4,538 people were diagnosed with cancer in the West Central Region. Of the newly diagnosed people in the West Central Region, the local American Cancer Society helped 2,855 patients through their journey with Patient Navigation Services. This represents 62.9 percent of the cancer patients in the region. The open house will let residents find out more about the Relay for Life and how they can help, along with being able to sign teams up for the event.
