Matthew Joseph Valerian Schweigert, 19, of Tremont died in a two-vehicle accident near Tremont at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.
He was born Oct. 12, 1993, in Cheboksary, Russia. He was adopted into the Schweigert family on Feb. 21, 2007.
Surviving are his parents, Joe and Nancy Schlipf Schweigert of Tremont; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Schlipf of Bloomington; two brothers, Taylor and Isaac Schweigert, both of Tremont; and two sisters, Lauren Schweigert of Tremont and Brie (Jordan) Pflederer of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
He attended Tremont High School and graduated from Lincoln Challenge Academy in Lincoln in December 2012.
He worked at Tri-County Cleaning in Groveland and Mitsubishi Motors in Bloomington.
He attended Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont and its Cabin Youth Ministry.
His funeral was Sunday at Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont, where visitation was Saturday. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Davis Mortuary in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Matthew J. Schweigert Memorial Fund established at Tremont Community Bank, 101 S. Chestnut St., Tremont IL 61568, where donations will benefit Tremont High School special education classes.
