Edith Marie Pflederer, 92, of Tremont, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, where she was a resident.

 Born Feb. 6, 1921, in Tremont to Walter F. and Louise Perdelwitz Getz, she married Robert Pflederer on Nov. 1, 1941, and he died on Aug. 23, 1984.

 Surviving are one son, Larry (Carol) Pflederer of Libertyville; one daughter, Jane (Brock) Butts of Tremont; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Burns of Tremont and Velma Wessels of Cedarburg, Wis.

 She was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Roberts of Jackson, Mich.; and one grandson-in-law, Steve Saranecki.

 She attended Lackland Grade School in rural Tremont and graduated from Tremont High School and Brown’s Business College in Peoria.

 She was employed at John Hancock Insurance Co. in Peoria, Mackle Construction Co. in Key West, Fla., and the United States Postal Service, where she worked as a postal clerk in Tremont for 25 years, retiring in 1981.

 She was a member of Tremont United Methodist Church, where she served on numerous committees. She served on the Tremont Township Board of Trustees for 10 years and was a past member of Tremont Mt. Hope Cemetery Association. She had been a volunteer in the Radiology Department at Pekin Hospital.

 Her funeral was Thursday at Tremont United Methodist Church, with visitation preceding services. The Rev. Chet Travis officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.

Davis Mortuary in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tremont United Methodist Church.
