The Morton Lacrosse Club's footprint continues to grow.
At a presentation Feb. 13 at the Morton Public Library, the formation of the Morton Lacrosse Club Scholarship Fund was announced.
Matt LaHood was on hand representing the Family Fellowship Fund, which presented a check for $10,000 to the Morton Community Foundation.
The FFF award will be used as seed money for the new scholarship fund. Part of that will be used this year to give out three $1,000 scholarships.
The new MLC Scholarship Fund is a component fund of the Morton Community Foundation.
LaHood said the scholarship funds for the community are "there to establish a greater grounding for (what lacrosse can bring)."
Three MLC girls team members, all of whom are college-bound, were on hand to represent the type of students who would be eligible to receive a scholarship if they qualify and are tabbed by the selection committee.
At the presentation were Morton High School seniors Hannah Grow and Samantha Fagerburg and Tremont High School senior Samantha Fagerburg.
Grow will attend Franklin College in Franklin, Ind., Henry is headed to Loras College in Dubuque Iowa, and Fagerburg will depart for McKendree University in Lebanon.
The MLC was established in August 2011 and now has more than 100 registered participants.
