Morton Public Library is celebrating summer reading by hosting Furry Friends July 2 for its Friday Brown Bag-It. Bring lunch at noon and stay for the program beginning at 12:30 p.m. Deb Moreland of Furry Friends will bring 15 to 20 animals that will provide an educational and hands-on experience. Invite the whole family to attend. For more information call the library at 263-2200.
Morton Public Library will host the Morton Fire and Rescue at noon June 25 at the Brown Bag-It Picnic. Bring a lunch at noon and stay for a program about fire safety and a tour of a fire truck and an ambulance.
Also listen to the Scharp Racing Family as they give a presentation about the world of racing. Children will be able to view the racing cars at the library.

The Morton Knights of Columbus will be serving breakfast to the public, open to everyone at Morton Relay For Life from 7 to 9 a.m. June 27 at the Morton High School concessions stand. New this year is the addition of Pumpkin Pancakes.

The 26th annual Community Prayer Breakfast is from 6:30 to 8 a.m. May 12 at the Ashland House in Morton.
The featured speaker will be Amy McClellan Jones, a lifetime resident of Morton. Jones will talk through her journey with childhood cancer being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 10, relapsing at 15 and has been cancer free since 1993.
As part of the Annual American Diabetes Association Kiss the Pig event the Mattson family is hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Morton. The money raised will go to the campaign to have WHOI-WEEK sportscaster Jim Mattson Kiss the Pig as the ADA's big June dinner event.
The annual presentation of Handel's Messiah is set for Dec. 6 this year.
The third annual Morton Strongman Contest, “Muscle on Main,” is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in downtown Morton. The event is sponsored by the Morton Tourism Association and Health Solutions.
