PEORIA — Equipment from Caterpillar, Inc. will be on display to promote manufacturing in the state of Illinois on Monday at a White House event.
The "Made in America" product showcase at the Executive Mansion will feature one product from each of the 50 states in the union, including a Caterpillar 966M wheel loader.
The event is being held as part of an effort "that highlights and celebrates American-made products and encourages other companies to manufacture their products in the United States," the White House said in a news release.
The display is expected to be attended not only by President Donald Trump, but also by Vice President Mike Pence, multiple Cabinet secretaries, members of Congress and White House staff members, according to press guidance from the White House.
"Caterpillar is proud to represent Illinois for the White House 'Made in America' showcase," said Kathryn Karol, Caterpillar's vice president of global government and corporate affairs. "This recognition is, in fact, representative of the talented men and women designing, building, selling and supporting the best in class products that have made Caterpillar an iconic brand worldwide."
The president lavished praise on the company and its products throughout the 2016 campaign as well as after entering office. During a meeting of manufacturing leaders at the White House in February, Trump told then-Chairman and retired CEO Doug Oberhelman, "I love Caterpillar."
The display is intended to help display the administration's "commitment to further encourage manufacturing in the United States that will further stimulate the economy and create jobs," the White House said.
