EAST PEORIA — Announcing the winners to the East Peoria VFW Post #2078 patriART contest.

First-place winner is Cristina Magana. She had the map of the U.S.A. formed into the flag. She will receive $50 and her artwork will be featured on our parade poster.

Second-place winner is Layla Roberson. She had blue skies for the Veterans Day Parade in East Peoria. She will receive $30 for her blue skies.

Third-place winner is Tristan Cawley. Tristan placed an eagle over the flag to make for a smart looking picture. Tristan will receive $20 for the eagle picture.

This competition is for artwork that the VFW Post #2078 uses in the Veterans Day Parade poster placed around town. You may see all artwork submitted for the contest in the Fondulac Library foyer until Nov. 13.

The parade took place Nov. 4. This year the parade had a new starting point behind the East Peoria Goodwill Store and used a different route. The new passed through the Levee district, around the roundabout to the parking lot of the Fondulac Library.

On morning of the parade, there was a memorial service for members of the Post who have passed since Memorial Day. That service was in the Veteran’s section of Fondulac Cemetery.
