A Creve Coeur man was injured Monday night when he was struck by a vehicle in the 600 block of South Main Street.

Police said Joseph Gilles, 50, was listed in serious condition at a Peoria hospital. He also was cited for being a pedestrian under the influence of alcohol.

Gilles was crossing the street at 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Michael Melton, 45, of Washington, police said in a news release. Melton was treated for minor injuries at a Peoria hospital and released. He was not cited in the accident.
