Friends of Jubilee College volunteer group is hosting an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the historic site located between Kickapoo and Brimfield.
The event includes gardening information at the Jubilee Butterfly Garden, tours of the Jubilee Prairies and the Jubilee Churchyard Cemetery and tours of the college.
College tours will be given by docents who will tell the history and purpose of the college. The site was established in 1840 by the first bishop of Illinois, Philander Chase, and served as both an Episcopal seminary for young men and a prep school for boys and girls.
A book about the history of the college, "Shades of Sepia" by Sue Swanson will be available for sale as well as various T-shirts.
