Ron Hale, Tazewell County Resource Center president and CEO for the past 14 years, announced his retirement to the agency’s board of directors during a July 19 meeting.

His last day directing the agency will be April 30, 2011.

Under Hale’s leadership, Tazewell County Resource Centers Inc. has evolved into one of the areas most well-known providers of social services to people with developmental disabilities and visual impairments in the state. Dan Walters, chairman of the TCRC board of directors, said he is pleased that Hale has provided the board with nine months to make a transition to a new leader.

“We appreciate that (Hale) has provided us so much time to select a successor and put in place a transition plan. It’s typical of the planning and leadership he’s provided for 14 years.”

The board of directors voted at its Aug. 16 meeting to promote Jamie Durdel from TCRC’s senior vice president of program services to the position of president and CEO, succeeding Hale. Durdel holds a master’s degree in human service administration from the University of Illinois and has been employed by TCRC since 2005.

“Jamie has been well prepared to assume the responsibilities of president and CEO and his hiring will allow us to maintain consistency in what the board believes to be an outstanding agency,” said Walters.

Tazewell County Resource Centers Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social service agency serving children and adults with developmental disabilities and visual impairments in Central Illinois.
