Becky Grimm, owner of Grimm Interiors in Morton, was excited Friday afternoon. She recently received word that Tess Swearingen is now cancer free.

Swearingen, of Morton, has been undergoing chemotherapy for Stage IV Neuroblastoma at St. Jude. She has been back and forth between Memphis, Tenn., and Peoria while enduring a lifestyle with which few children are familiar.

Many have been keeping up with Tess’ progress through her caringbridge.org Web site, www.caringbridge.org/visit/princesstess.

On the site, Tess’ mother, Libby, has been providing updates almost daily. But, more recently, the updates have been of a very positive nature.

Starting Monday next week, Grimm said she will donate 10 percent of all in-store sales to Tess’ cause. The fundraiser will last until Wednesday.

Grimm said she became involved with the cause through her friendship with Tess’ grandmother, Cindy Wiedman.

“She has been a dear friend for years,” Grimm said. “I can’t imagine having a grandchild go through that.”

Grimm said she admires the work St. Jude does, calling Tess’ situation “a miracle.”

Now, she is having an early Thanksgiving at Grimm Interiors.

“I’ve been waiting to do something for a long time,” she said.

Grimm Interiors is located at 111 W. Washington St. in Morton. For more information, contact Becky at 266-5250.
