The Morton High School spring musical “South Pacific” will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bertha Frank Performing Arts Center at MHS.

The musical features about 60 students, including cast, crew and musicians, along with two local elementary students.

Amelia Chatwell, a second-grade student from Jefferson School, and Zach Haven, a fifth-grade student from Lettie Brown, are part of the musical.

Besides memorizing lines, the two will be singing in French. “It’s a lot of fun,” Haven said. He has older siblings that have been active in the MHS theater department, so he was excited to be asked to participate.

Liz Rebmann and Heather Berger co-direct the production.

Rebmann said she selected this musical because of the amount of male roles and the high number of boys in MHS theatre.

“My seniors that have been involved for so long have been wonderful mentors to my freshmen and sophomores,” Rebmann said.

There will also be some surprise, cameo appearances by MHS staff, Rebmann said.

Tickets for the musical are $8 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the MHS office or at the door.
