A 27-year-old Morton woman was arrested April 17 after allegedly inhaling an aerosol product while at Wal-mart, according to a Morton Police Department report.

Morton police were dispatched to the Morton Wal-Mart that evening after receiving a call from employess that someone was "huffing" inside the store.

Officers arrived to learn from store managers that a woman was in the store's bathroom vomitting.

Police later found Gretchen Patton, of 110 W. Lakeland, Unit 101, in a women's restroom stall and could hear her vomitting.

During the bathroom interview, Patton stated she huffed "about a half a can" of dust remover. She said she tried to get admitted into de-tox "but they laughed at me."

"I grabbed the can from the shelf and started huffing right there," Patton told police.

Patton reportedly told police that she learned about huffing from her 18-year-old niece.

She was unable to remember how she got to the bathroom.

According to the Morton Police Department report, Patton's ex-husband called Wal-Mart to notify them that she was going to huff at the store.

Patton repeatedly asked officers to find help for her. She was arrested for retail theft and use of an intoxicating compound.

Patton was later transported to the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
