The Morton Chamber of Commerce will award cash prizes for the best-decorated windows on display during the Morton Pumpkin Festival. The chamber is seeking participants in the following divisions: adults, organizations and K-6 classrooms to participate in the Midwest Hearing Center’s Window Display event held in downtown Morton.
The categories have been altered slightly to incorporate suggestions from previous participants. Categories include: antiques/history, collections, hobby/craft, theme (Pumpkin Splash) and Pumpkin Splash window painting. The window painting has been redesigned this year to encourage participation in this category.
“We are asking participants to paint the Pumpkin Splash logo,” said Kris Stieglitz. “This is a great opportunity for anyone any age who loves to paint,” said chairman Kris Stieglitz. “We invite you to join in the fun and help us decorate the downtown windows during the festival which draws 70,000 people each year.”
All window displays must be in place by the end of business hours Sept. 13 and remain in place until the following Monday. No names should be placed on the displays themselves. The committee chairperson will add the names after the judging has completed.
