Katie Kathleen Weinstein, 28, of Orange, Calif., formerly of Morton, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 21, 1983, in Peoria to Cody and Mary (Cleveland) Weinstein.

Surviving are her parents of Germantown Hills; one sister, Megan Weinstein of Los Angeles, Calif.; her maternal grandmother, Jeanne Cleveland of Morton; and her paternal grandparents, Bill and Jean Weinstein of Morton.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, George Cleveland.

She was a 2001 graduate of Morton High School and graduated from the University of Illinois in 2005. She was a student at Chapman University in Orange, Calif., where she was working on her degree in film production and will receive her master’s degree posthumously.

Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Katie Weinstein Scholarship Fund. For Film Production and the Arts at Chapman University, memorials may be sent to 140 S. Detroit Ave., Morton, IL 61550.
