Willis C. “Will” Bauman, 84, of Morton died at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Morton to Frank and Naomi (Grimm) Bauman. He married Patricia Wilson on Aug. 4, 1951, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1998. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Oscar; and one infant sister.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Barry of Morton and Lee Ann (Brad) Gray of Bartonville; one son, Steven Bauman of Morton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; one brother, Eldon (Doris) Bauman of Morton; and four sisters, Dorothy (Jack) Krantz and Mabel Yentes, both of Morton; Bernice (Willis) Knapp of Eureka and Virginia Streitmatter of Princeville.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Will was employed as an electrical engineer with IBM in Peoria for more than 40 years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 318; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5921 and the Kennel Lake Sportsman’s Club, all in Morton.

He enjoyed taking vacations in Florida during the winter months.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. An Apostolic Christian Church minister will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following services. Burial of the cremated remains will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Runners Association, 4722 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL 61614; to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Greater Illinois Chapter, 150 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 400, Chicago, IL 60601 or to the Calusa Land Trust and Nature Preserve of Pine Island, P.O. Box 216, Bokeelia, FL 33922.
