Jonathan Richard Haller of Boy Scout Troop 178, Morton United Methodist Church, has received his Eagle Scout Award at his Eagle Court of Honor.
The Eagle Rank is the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to scouts. Only 4 percent of all Boy Scouts attain this rank.
His Leadership Service Project consisted of the design and installation of an extensive landscape project around the newly reconstructed Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton. A small tree, various perennial plants and flowers were planted and surrounded by rock and a border of concrete pavers at the entrance to the church.
Haller earned 23 merit badges and held several leadership positions in the troop including bugler, patrol leader and assistant patrol leader. He was also selected to serve as patrol leader at the 100th Centennial Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia in July.
Haller has also trekked the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow, scouting’s national honor society.
