Clifford W. Metz, 88, of Morton, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Trivoli to William and Matilda Metz. He married Beverly A. Farren Nov. 5, 1945, in Rock Island. She died April 26, 2008.
He also was preceded in death by one grandson and three sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Olmstead of Morton; one grandson, Thomas Olmstead of Washington; one granddaughter, Rikki Olmstead of Morton; and two great-grandchildren, Troy Olmstead of Washington and Michael Kahne of Morton.
A member of American Legion Post 318 in Morton, he was a World War II Navy veteran, serving with the Seabees in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Clifford worked as a temperature engineer at Pabst Brewing Co. in Peoria Heights from 1941 until his retirement in 1977.
He was a member of the Central Illinois Beagle Club; Kennel Lake Sportsman’s Club and Wilmor Sportsman’s Club, both in Morton; the Pabst Retirees Club and the Peoria Moose Lodge.
Clifford attended Grace Church in Morton.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, with Pastor Tim Bertsche officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
