Dorothy R. Turner, 88, of Morton, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Morton Terrace Care Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Wiley and Stella (Teaford) Webb. She married William F. Turner on June 5, 1949, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Jones of Morton and Jennifer (Richard) Amrein of Chesterfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, Dr. Torrie Turner Jones of Springfield and Brandon Jones of Creve Coeur; and one great-grandson, Landon Turner Jones.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University, where she received her bachelor of science degree in education. She then attended Illinois State University in Normal.
An English teacher for 43 years, Dorothy taught for 33 years at Washington High School , retiring in 1988.
She enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Morton Public Library.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Ludwig Mortuary in Morton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to the Morton Public Library or to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society in Pekin.
