Charles E. “Chuck” Nichol, 74, of Morton, died at 11:18 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Born June 20, 1935, in Hadley, Pike County, Ill., to B. Frank and Ada (Neff) Nichol, he married Joyce Schmidgall June 24, 1956, in Groveland. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Steve (Lori) Nichol of Morton; one daughter, Susan Nichol of Tremont; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
He worked as a machine repairman at Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Morton United Methodist Church and United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria. He served as a firefighter with the Morton Fire Department for 22 years.
Services are at 10 a.m. today at Morton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Walles will officiate. Visitation was Tuesday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton and will precede services from 9 to 9:45 a.m. today at the church. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
