EAST PEORIA — John L. “Jack” Kelch, 78, formerly of Morton, died at 11 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, at his home.
Born Jan. 9, 1932, in Peoria to Anthony and Cecelia (Gardner) Kelch, he married Imelda Giltner but then married Margaret Ruth Dec. 14, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Thomas (Shelley) Kelch of Washington; five daughters, Andrea (Michael) Gallagher of Edwards, Melanie (David) Althaus of Gallipolis, Ohio, Julie (Gary) Seibold of Metamora, Sherryl (Aaron) Kelch-Seaman of Morton and Pegi Kelch of East Peoria; one stepdaughter, Maura Minton of Morton; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Teresa Walker; and one brother, Edward Kelch.
Preceding him in death were two brothers and three sisters.
A veteran of the Navy, he worked at Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Peoria for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He later worked at Weinsteins which became TNT Sports Bar & Grill in East Peoria.
He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council in Peoria.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where services were Tuesday. The Rev. Mark DeSutter officiated. Visitation was Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Further visitation preceded services  Tuesday at the church. Burial was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton, where military graveside services will be conducted.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice in Peoria or to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Building Fund in Morton.
