Beverly Rae Deterding, 75, of Morton, died at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at her home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Kansas, Ill., to Charles Frederick and Velma Daisy (Carnine) Schneider. She married Walter C. Deterding Aug. 2, 1958, in Grandview.
Surviving are her husband of Morton; two sons, Mark (Kim) Deterding of Alexandria, Minn., and Roger (Kelly) Deterding of Blue Mounds, Wis.; one daughter, Rita (Rob) Strickler of Peru; nine grandchildren, David and Dan Deterding, Elizabeth, Erin and Kathryn Deterding, Andy, Zach, Chelsey and Alex Strickler; one brother, Albert Schneider (Dianne Duzan) of Kansas, Ill.; and one sister, Joanne (Jim) Getty of Gettysburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She received her bachelor’s degree in home economics education from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1957, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
Beverly taught home economics at Morton High School from 1957 to 1959 and later taught preschool at Bethel Lutheran School in Morton for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Christian Women’s Club.
While living in Little Falls, Minn., she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Homemakers Club, Merry Munchers and Christian Women’s Club.
Cremation was accorded. A Celebration of Life service was Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. Pastor Jeff Anderson officiated. Visitation preceded services Saturday at the church.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton handled arrangements.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice, 2265 W. Altorfer Drive, Peoria, IL 61615; or Bethel Lutheran Preschool, 325 E. Queenwood Road, Morton, IL 61550.
