MT. STERLING — Roselyn Kay Jensen, 65, died Monday, June 28, at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born July 28, 1944, in St. Louis, Mo., Roselyn was the daughter of Ernest and Florence Christner Jensen. She lived in Pittsfield as a child. Roselyn graduated from Brown County High School in 1962 and from Illinois State University in 1966. She taught fourth grade at Grundy School in Morton for 36 years.
One of the highlights of her teaching career included co-directing the annual Patriotic Pageant for Grundy School fourth graders. Throughout her life, Roselyn touched many lives as a teacher, family member and friend. She loved teaching, entertaining, gardening and sharing with others. Roselyn was an adventurous person and enjoyed traveling. A member of Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church, she worked actively to preserve and maintain Jensen Woods Church Camp in Mt. Sterling.
Roselyn is survived by two aunts, Cyrene (Dan) Eberle of Morton and Alberta Bowman of Peoria; and cousins Larry Christner, Barbara Seyller, Marilyn Dede, Ruth DeMoss, Alan Bowman, Kenny Eberle and Randy Bowman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and cousin Bonnie Hudson.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling. The Rev. Connie Jenkins will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Jensen Woods Church Camp.
