Bias alert: I'm going to talk about the Cubs

Morton, Ill. -

The Chicago Cubs are 66-45, 21 games above .500 and four games up in the National League Central Division. Still, I don't feel confident in our playoff chances. Why? Well, not because they are the Cubs, but because when the playoffs arrive, there is always some team that gets hot at the end of the season.

Last year was a prime example - the Arizona Diamondbacks went into the playoffs with young talent ... *cough* 2003 Florida Marlins *cough* ... and swept the "average to good" Chicago Cubs in the first round of the playoffs.

How about the Colorado Rockies and their run in the playoffs last year, making it straight to the World Series? They came out of nowhere - sudden blast of power in the National League.

What's my point? No matter how well the Chicago Cubs play in the regular season, it does not matter once they hit the playoffs. Then, they have to compete against hot teams going into the playoffs. The Cubs have to be that hot team going into the playoffs to end the 100 year streak without a championship.

I have a feeling we might run into the same situation as we did last year ... out in three. Unless we can finish with a winning streak or at least a 9 for 10 record in the final games.

What are your predictions for the Chicago Cubs come playoff time?
