          Illinois Wesleyan University senior softball player Emma Clark has been elected to the first team of the Capital One Academic All-District 7 softball team and will be on the ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America team, where first, second, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

          The Morton girls track and field team again is the cream of the crop in the Mid-Illini Conference.The Potters won their third consecutive championship by accumulating points in all 18 events at the May 1 meet hosted by Canton.
          Morton sophomore Cris Sheehan placed fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put to contribute to the girls track and field team’s Mid-Illini Conference championship May 1. The Potters easily outscored second-place Dunlap at Canton to win their third consecutive title. Morton participates Thursday in the Class 2A Dunlap Sectional.

          Grent Reiman, a Morton junior shown in a March boys tennis match, is on a doubles hot streak playing with twin brother Trent Reiman. The Potters won their only dual last week, 9-0, at Glen Oak Park against Notre Dame. Morton goes to the Quad Cities this weekend for a tournament.

          Morton erupted for six runs in the second inning April 22.That outburst was too much for the Illinois Valley Central softball team to overcome in an 8-0 Potter non-conference victory.

          Morton won nine of the 12 running events April 24 in a convincing victory over the Pontiac girls track and field team.

          The Morton baseball team earned one of its biggest victories of the season April 22.Not only did the Potters halt a losing skid at three games, they also stayed in the Mid-Illini Conference race.
          Morton senior David Rossi shut out Washington for six-plus innings April 22 in a 4-0 Mid-Illini Conference baseball win under the lights at Brian Wisher Field. The Potters started week five with a 5-2 league record.

          Athletes wanting to add to their competitive calendar or individuals seeking to help a worthwhile cause have an outlet with Pay It Forward Racing. Dustin Weeks turned his hobby as a race director into a non-profit business that aims to provide affordable local athletic events with various charities as beneficiaries. 
          The Tri for Kids Sake triathlon is one of eight scheduled for the Pay It Forward Racing Group. The triathlon in Morton benefits the Heart of Illinois Big Brothers/Big Sisters group.
