East Peoria is young, with only two seniors on the team and nine players getting their first experience of varsity volleyball. The Raiders will go through growing pains, but understand they are building for the future.

“You have to remind yourself that this is a building process and that you’re not going to have your best game every game because everybody is young,” EP coach Laura Moore said. “We’re just working hard and getting a lot better, but we are young and are building for our future years.”

Height is at a high point for the Raiders. Four players are 5-foot-11 or taller and they are all underclassmen. Juniors Sarah LaHood and Taylor Borth, sophomore Mo Hoosen and freshman Brook Huff are hitters that give the Raiders several attacking threats.

“We’ve never had this many tall girls working together and it’s exciting,” Moore said.
