Tremont won just one individual title, but used its depth Saturday to capture the championship of the 11-team Normal U-High George Girardi Invitational wrestling tournament.

The Turks had nine wrestlers earn top-four finishes, led by Caleb Schwenk’s title at 160 pounds. Schwenk (20-4) had two pins and a major decision on his way to the championship. Second-place finishes for Tremont came from Chas Bishop at 126, Tanner Finin at 132, Jesse Pflederer at 145, Caiden Buster at 170.

“The kids showed up ready to go to work,” said Tremont coach T.J. Williams. “Unfortunately, I was unable to be at the meet because my son and I had the flu. I made a few small adjustments and assistant coach Lance Smiley was ready to go to work as well. He did a great job keeping the kids motivated and focused.”

A trio of Limestone wrestlers won titles — Josh McBride at 138, Marcus Linwood at 152 and Kaden Mitchell-Look at 170.

Third-place Olympia also had three champions, in Jake Mitchell at 106, Grant Kessinger at 145 and Keaton Fogler at 220.

Peoria High senior Marques Cox (21-1) won the 285-pound title.
