Morton and Richwoods topped the Class 3A girls basketball rankings, released by The Associated Press on Tuesday.
The three-time defending state champion Potters (26-1) received nine first-place votes. No. 2 Richwoods (27-1) earned two. Both teams have been led the poll all year.
Illini West (27-3) is ranked third in Class 2A, one spot ahead of Eureka (23-3). Harrisburg (28-0) is the unanimous No. 1 in 2A. Farmington topped the list of others receiving votes in the class.
Lewistown (25-4) is seventh in Class 1A and Princeville (28-4) is ranked ninth. Annawan (30-0) tops 1A and Edwardsville (23-0) and Rockford Boylan (25-0) are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in Class 4A.
On the boys side, Bureau Valley is the only team from the Journal Star area to make the statewide rankings. The Storm (22-2) are ninth in Class 2A.
Aurora Christian (21-0) is No. 1 in Class 1A with Springfield Southeast (18-2) first in 3A and Chicago Simeon a unanimous No. 1 in Class 4A.
