The Irish have the best time in six of the 12 events. The top Irish swimmer is senior Colton Paulson, the defending sectional champ in both the 200 free and 500 free, and the anchor leg in both the 200 free and 400 free relays. Notre Dame seniors Matthew Terrian and John Couri are the area leaders in 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, respectively. But Richwoods junior Daniel Matlock won both the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly titles last season, and Pontiac senior Brett Spires was the 100 backstroke sectional champ last year. Terrian also qualified for state in the 200 IM and Couri in the 50 free. Top contenders for both the 50 free and 100 free events should be Normal U-High senior Colton Stogner and Pekin's Adam Peterson and Jack Marlatt. Metamora sophomore Justin Alderson qualified for state last year in both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.
