Members of the Morton Youth Wrestling Club were successful Sunday at the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation regionals at Central High School.
The following is a summary of how Morton athletes fared:
Bantams (8-and-under)
Aiden Akins, second
Brayden Cruz, third
Luke Churchill, wrestled, but did not place.
Intermediates (9-10)
Grant Churchill, second, will advance to sectionals
Gary Cates, sixth, will advance to sectionals
Tony Monferdini, James Glasgo and Garrett Rich, wrestled, but did not place.
Novice (11-12)
Drew Howell, fourth will advance to sectionals
Gabe Pleasants, first, will advance to sectionals.
Sectionals are Saturday at Rock Island High School.
Pleasants and Howell will wrestle with an opportunity to advance to state. The top-three finishers move forward.
