The Morton boys golf team had two low scores Aug. 24.

But the Potters’ other two counting totals were not low enough to stop host Dunlap at Donovan Golf Course.

Morton suffered a 162-168 Mid-Illini Conference loss playing the par-36 front nine in the opener for both teams.

Potter Jordan Wanner was the co-medalist with a 37 on the more difficult side at the North Peoria layout.

Just one shot behind him was teammate Alex Shane.

Anthony Williams carded a 44 and Austin Endress a 49 for Morton.

In a 183-188 junior varsity loss, Kyle Brenkman had the best score with a 43.

The Eagles this year moved from previous home Arrowhead Country Club.

Pekin 148, MHS 159
The Potters dropped to 0-2 in the league with a home loss Thursday to the Dragons.

Shane fired the best round of the day with an even-par 35 on the front nine at Pine Lakes Golf Club.

Wanner also was below 40 for the second straight outing with a 38.

Luke Stickelmaier tallied a 41 for Morton, and Brenkman and Endress had 45s.

In a 159-168 JV defeat to Pekin, Jacob Sullivan and Kyle Walter shared team-best honors for the Potters with 41s.

Monmouth-Roseville Invitational
The Potters were eighth Saturday at Gibson Woods Golf Course.

A 339 left Morton in the middle among three Mid-Illini teams who participated.

With a six-over-par 77, Shane recorded his second top-10 finish in as many tournaments this season.

Wanner had an 84 for the Potters and Williams and Stickelmaier 89s.

Notre Dame won the title in the 21-team field with a 305.
