Potters rallied from 13 points down with less than four minutes left

The Morton boys basketball team needed one more play Tuesday.

The Potters' season ended with a 56-54 overtime loss to state No. 1 Richwoods in the Class 3A Ottawa Sectional semifinals.

Morton (22-5) trailed by 13 points before a 17-4 run in the last 3:42 of regulation, capped by a long Adam Kumpf three-pointer with 3.7 seconds remaining.

"What we made of the last four-five minutes of the game was outstanding," MHS head coach Steve Schupp said.

Brett Bisping led the Potters with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Morton's Tyler Lundeen had all 11 of his points after halftime.

The Potters were ahead 54-51 in the OT before Mason Alwan hit a three with 56 seconds left.

Richwoods got the ball back, and Tony Frazier sank the game-winner on a drive to the hoop with two seconds remaining at Kingman Gymnasium.

Morton and the Knights each used a timeout with :01.2 on the clock before the Potters' final inbounds pass was intercepted.

"I thought we represented ourselves very well, but we wanted to be playing for the sectional championship," said Schupp.
