MJHS softball improves to 8-4 with big week

After a 6-1 week, the Morton Junior High softball team is 8-4 on the season.

Gabby Garcia took the loss on the mound in game one in a 3-0 defeat vs. Germantown Hills.

The Junior Potters won game two, 7-4, with Jadison Wharram getting the win.

Garcia (four strikeouts, two walks, four hits) got the victory in an 11-6 positive decision vs. Dee-Mack.

Chandler Ryan was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.

Wharram went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Logan Namanny was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.  

Jocelyn Nimmo and Bridget Serrurier had two hits apiece. Nimmo drove in a run.

In a 7-3 win vs. Holy Trinity, Garcia (3 Ks, two hits) was the winner. With four strikeouts, Wharram picked up the save.

Nimmo, Ryan and Amanda Ridings all had two hits. Ryan and Ridings chipped in RBI.

Morton won a doubleheader vs. Metamora, 15-5 in six innings in the opener and 17-2 in four innings in the second contest.

Garcia (six strikeouts, three walks, four hits) was the game-one winner.

Nimmo was 3-for-5 with a double, triple and an RBI. Ryan also doubled and knocked in a run.

Wharram, Garcia and Ridings had two RBI apiece.

Wharram (three Ks, one walk, two hits) got the victory and was 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBI in the second contest.  

Ryan was 2-for-2, with a triple, home run, four runs and three RBI. Wharram doubled and drove in two runs in a 3-for-3 outing.

Garcia was the winner in a 6-0 shutout of Dunlap Valley.

Also, the Junior Potter B team beat Dunlap Valley 25-4, with Rachel Feather having five hits and Kayla Smock getting the pitching win.

The squad picked up its first win of the season Aug. 18 vs. Holy Trinity, and finished in a tie against Dee-Mack the previous day.
