The Morton Junior High seventh-grade boys basketball team stayed hot in January.

Bryce Brekke’s double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds guided the Junior Potters to a 49-33 win Jan. 3 over Normal Chiddix.

Ryan Altenberger added 13 points and five steals, while Tucker Anderson and Tony Brown had six points.

Morton held Homer Glen to three points in the second half Jan. 7 in a 39-15 victory.

Brekke barely missed another double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

Anderson had 11 points, while Brown made three steals.

A 19-0 spurt Jan. 9 gave the seventh graders a 38-20 lead over Canton and they went to post a 43-29 triumph.

Thirteen was a lucky number for Brekke, who had that many points and rebounds.

Anderson also had 13 points. Altenberger provided nine points and five steals, while Brown had eight points.

The Junior Potters doubled up Germantown Hills Jan. 10, 40-20, to win their ninth game in succession.

Brekke topped the boys with 11 points and six rebounds.

Morton improved to 16-3 on the year as Adam Christianson had nine points, Trevor Davis five rebounds and Altenberger four thefts.

Postseason: Morton is the No. 1 seed in the Class 4A Regional 10 tournament.

It begins postseason play at 9 a.m. Saturday against eighth-seeded Dunlap Middle School, which is the host.

The winner advances to Monday’s 4:30 p.m. semifinal against either No. 4 seed Canton Ingersoll or fifth-seeded Dunlap Valley.

The regional title game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday.
