Vearl G. Dillon, 73, of Morton, died at 7:53 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at Pekin Hospital.

Born on March 15, 1938, in Carlisle, Ind., to Orba and Geneva Hallett Dillon, he married Barbara N. Westhafer on Dec. 1, 1956, in Carlisle, Ind. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Brian (Diane) Dillon of Rochelle, Va., Doug (Judy) Dillon of Moore, Okla. and Matt (Theresa) Dillon of Washington; one daughter, Dawn Dillon of Morton; his mother-in-law, Mildred Westhafer of Farmington; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one sister, Delores Shepler of Carlisle, Ind.; four sisters-in-law, Mary (Dayton) Dorey of Punta Gorda, Fla., Linda Lappin and Nila (Don) Hammerick, both of Bartonville, Kathy Westhafer of Marquette Heights; five brothers-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Westhafer and Bobby (Sheila) Westhafer, both of Glasford, Duane (Becky) Westhafer of Washington, Lex (LeAnn) Westhafer of Glasford and Terry (Lori) Westhafer of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Samuel Dillon; two brothers-in-law, Jim Westhafer and Rex Westhafer and one sister-in-law, Anna Dillon.

He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria for 31 and a half years as a brake press operator in building LL, retiring in 1991. He also worked for Nestle in Morton for 13 seasons.

Funeral services were Oct. 24 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. The Rev. Dwight Winnett officiated. Visitation was prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation was accorded after the funeral service.
