The Tremont boys basketball team remained at No. 6 in the Class 2A state rankings released Tuesday by The Associated Press.

The Turks (22-2) close out the regular season with a pair of conference games. On Tuesday, Tremont played Tri-Valley and closes out the regular season on the road Friday against Class 1A No. 1 Colfax Ridgeview.

Tremont plays in the Class 2A Petersberg PORTA Regional next week and is the top overall seed in the regional.

The lone losses for the Turks this season came against Deer Creek-Mackinaw and Heyworth at the McLean County/Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament.

Since then, the Turks have won six games in a row. 

Illini Bluffs received 11 votes in the latest set of rankings, but remain unranked in Class 2A. 

The Tigers (22-5) have won 13 of their last 14 games and played both games last week without Division I recruit Taylor Bruninga who suffered a sprained ankle in the first half if a Feb. 3 game against Hartem.

Delavan beat IB 69-66 Friday in overtime to hand the Tigers their first ICAC and Tomahawk Conference losses.

IB played Illini Central Tuesday and Mt. Pulaski Friday with a chance to win the Tomahawk Conference.

Quincy Notre Dame is the No. 1 seed in 2A.

Class 3A

Washington moved from a tie for the No. 10 spot to the No. 9 spot in the Class 3A rankings.

The Panthers (18-5) have won 12 games in a row and have not lost since Dec. 28 at the Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament to the host Dragons.

With three games to go in the regular season, the Panthers control their own destiny in the Mid-Illini Conference. Washington is 10-0 with games at Pekin, East Peoria and Morton remaining.

Also in 3A: PIHT champion Springfield Lanphier is ranked No. 3 ... Bloomington High, led by star sophomore Chris Payton, is ranked no. 4. 

Elsewhere: HOI team Ridgeview is No. 1 in Class 1A. ... Peoria Quest is ranked No. 3 in 1A. ... Bolingbrook is the top team in 4A.


Mid-Illini champion Morton remains as the No. 2 team in Class 3A.

The Lady Potters opened their posteason Tuesday against Peoria Manual at the Class 3A Peoria High Regional.

Morton is back-to-back state champions.

Richwoods is ranked No. 8 in 3A.

Pekin’s Class 4A Moline Regional semifinal opponent Rock Island remains as the No. 2 team in Class 4A.
