1920 - 2017

Faye Orlea Bolen, 96, of Pekin, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at UnityPoint Health – Pekin.

Born Oct. 14, 1920, in Canton, to Ora O. and Ferne F. (Langham) Johnson. She married Ernest L. Bolen on Oct. 28, 1947, in Eldon, Mo. He died August 2, 2011, in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Nancy Jean Rice; three brothers, Gilbert Johnson, Carol Johnson and Jerry Johnson and one sister, Lonita Emmons.

Surviving are four sons, Chris (Diana) Bolen, Terry (Susan) Bolen, both of Osage Beach, Mo., Mark (Jan) Bolen and Kevin (Olga) Bolen, both of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Jason (Stacy) Bolen, Luke (Brooke) Bolen, Kelly (Jon) Rogers, all of Pekin, Drew Bolen of Atlanta, Ga., Jill (Thomas) Miller, Chris Willingham, both of Memphis, Tenn. and Ryan (Britt) Bolen of Peoria and eight great-grandchildren.

Faye worked for Tazewell Service Company as an office clerk for nine years, retiring in 1983. She previously had worked for the Pekin Daily Times, Holiday School and Pekin Insurance.

Faye liked to crochet and especially making baby blankets. She formerly enjoyed bowling and travelling and was a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. When her children were young, she served as president of the P.T.A. in Canton.

She was a longtime member of First Christian Church, where she was a member and former treasurer of the Dorcas Circle.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Hank Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale
