1929 - 2017

Roselind A. Kater, 88, of Delavan, passed away at 6:43 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at UnityPoint Health — Pekin Emergency Room.

She was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Loveland, Colo., to Robert Lee and Bertha Theresa Schneider Long. She married the Rev. Robert D. Kater. He passed away in 1983.

Surviving are four daughters, Carolyn (Bo) Eeten of Tulsa, Okla., Elizabeth “Beth” (Louie) Caparelli of Omaha, Neb., JoAnne “Jody” (Roger) Shue and Marilyn Burrell, both of Delavan; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Cynthia) Long of Va., Clifford (Dagmar) Long and Victor (Delores) Long, both of CA; one son-in-law, Ronald Pullum of East Peoria; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Roberta L. “Bobbi” Pullum; one son, Fred H. Kater; one sister, Patricia Wagner.

She received her master’s degree in Education.

Early in her career, Roselind taught in many schools with the bulk of her career at Green Valley, where she taught kindergarten for over 20 years. She also enjoyed teaching music.

She was a woman of great faith and enjoyed spreading the word of God. She demonstrated her faith by her daily interactions.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, sewing, canoeing, reading, traveling with her children and her pets over the years.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan. The Rev. Micheal Kalm will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Orndorff Cemetery in Hopedale.
