1. The IHSA Class 1A semifinal session begins at 11 a.m. Friday, and the Class 2A semifinal session begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center’s Carver Arena. The final sessions will be Saturday with Class 1A at 11 a.m. and Class 2A at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.

2. Turas will perform during Live at the Five Spot from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, 305 SW Water St. Admission is $8 for members and $12 for the public.

3. The Film Noir series will feature a showing of "DOA," with guest speaker Helen Burgess from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Peoria Public Library's downtown branch, 107 NE Monroe. The showing is hosted by Steve Tarter, Journal Star reporter.

4. Veteran broadcaster Tom McIntyre will share his retrospective, "What I Learned Along the Way," from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Peoria Public Library's North Branch, 3001 W. Grand Parkway. Admission is free and open to the public.

5. The Peoria Symphony Orchestra will present “Beethoven and Boccherini,” featuring cellist Adriana LaRosa Ransom, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Grace Presbyterian Church, 8607 Illinois Route 91, Peoria. Tickets start at $25 for adults; student tickets are $10.
